Stoke Take Campbell On Trial

Tyrese Campbell

Stoke have taken Kevin Campbell’s son Tyrese on trial.

The 16 year-old striker played the final few minutes of Stoke’s 2-1 defeat to Burnley in the Final Third Development League Northern Cup Final.

Campbell is currently looking to move away from parent club Manchester City, and has been linked with moves to West Ham and his father’s former club Arsenal in recent months.

There was very little time for Campbell to make an impression, although the England youth international did manage one shot at goal.

It was Burnley who lifted silverware at Harrison Park, despite some impressive individual showings in Stoke’s team.

Julien Ngoy grabbed Stoke’s goal and it was he who shone the brightest over the 90 minutes. Thibaud Verlinden also had an impressive game, and the Belgian created Ngoy’s equaliser with some fancy footwork.

That goal cancelled out Tinashe Chakwana’s opener- a gift-wrapped tap-in following an error from Sergio Molina.

And as the game appeared to be drifting towards a penalty shoot-out, Cameron Dummigan won it for the visitors with a low drive.
