Last fixture at the bet365 Stadium against Rotherham

The game ended 2-2 but that doesn’t show a true reflection of the game. Stoke lead 2-0 at half time with goals from Vokes & Clucas. Rotherham had been on top for most of the game despite the scoreline and eventually beat an inspired Jack Butland on the day twice to get a point from the game.

Will Sam Clucas return to the team for his usual goal versus Swansea

Match Preview:  Stoke versus Swansea

Stoke and Swansea start the game level on points with a chance of going second in the league for the winner of other results fall good. Tyrese Campbell is in a good form this season with only two players in the league with more goal involvements to date. Swansea will be hoping Sam Clucas doesn’t start as he’s got a habit of scoring against his old club.

Stoke have only faced Swansea 74 times in the past going all the way back to 1925 when Stoke faced Swansea on Christmas Day away from home, to then face them in the return fixture the following day. Both games ended 1-1

Last fixture at the Liberty Stadium

The last time Stoke went to the Liberty Stadium Stoke won 2-1 with a last minute goal from Scott Hogan. Swansea started quickly in the game and were 1-0 up within a minute. It was a very open game with lots of chances at both ends, Sam Clucas got his usual goal against Swansea before half time which just left Hogan to steal all the plaudits by claiming the victory, the first of the Season for Stoke at our eleventh asking.

Last fixture at the bet365 Stadium v Brentford

The last time Brentford visited the bet365 Stadium was during lockdown. Brentford needed the win to keep their hope of automatic promotion within their own hands. Stoke took a first half lead through Lee Gregory. The second half was one way traffic as Brentford attacked in number trying to get back into the game. Fortunately for Stoke, Davies & resolute defending by Batth, Chester & BMI meant Stoke held on to the 1-0 result.

Match Preview:  Stoke versus Barnsley

There have been some cracking games played between the two sides over time, one of my favourites was back in 1993. Stoke were trailing 2-0 after ten mins and 4-3 down going into the last 5mins of the game. Two late goals gave Stoke the victory 5-4 with half the ground already walking up Wheildon Rd in disgust. Another game was infact Michael O’Neill’s first game as manager. A Tyrese Campbell inspired performance saw Stoke win 4-2.

Stoke aim to continue the run of eight without loss to Luton

Match Preview:  Luton versus Stoke

I’m sure I don’t have to tell anyone what the added incentive is to winning this game. Nathan Jones’s disastrous time at Stoke will be hard to forget.  Jones won just 6 of his 38 games in charge of the potters and if not for a remarkable turn around in form down to now manager Michael O’Neill then Stoke would now be a league one club. Jones though did go back to Luton and produced a similar turnaround, saving the Hatters from the drop.
