Burton 3-0 Stoke

Stoke fell to defeat in their first friendly of the pre-season today.

The Potters made the short trip to Burton but ultimately lost 3-0 to the newly promoted Championship side.

Whilst fitness is always key at this stage of the season, few Stokies anticipated a scoreline so heavily weighted in Burton’s favour.

New signing Chris O’Grady scored twice before Lucas Akins rounded off victory for the home side.

One plus point for Stoke was the return from injury of Jack Butland, Glen Johnson and Marc Wilson, whilst the only player to complete 90 minutes was youngster Eddy Lecygne.

Stoke’s next friendly is against Preston next Saturday.

Stoke: Butland (Haugaard 46), Johnson (Molina 72), Wilson (Bardsley 46), Wollscheid (Taylor 86), Muniesa (Edwards 78), Pieters (Moha 72), Lecygne, Adam (Telford 72), Imbula (Shenton 64), Bojan (N’Goy 64), Joselu (Waring 64).
