Carabao Cup: Wolves v Stoke

Match Preview Wolves versus Stoke

Well after beating Blackpool in the first round of the Carabao Cup, drawing Premier League Wolves away was not the match we wanted.

Will Michael O’Neill use this cup game to bring some of the players that didn’t play versus Millwall upto speed or does O’Neill want to keep a consistent side?

Stoke have an average record against Wolves in the 150 previous fixtures, Stoke have won a third of those games.

Wolves Wins 65

Last 10 meetings

Stoke record over the the last 10 games is slightly better with Stoke winning 50% of the games played

Drew 3
Won 5

Last fixture at Molinuex

The last fixture at Molinuex was back in 2011 when Stoke triumphed 2-1 in a Premier League clash. Peter Crouch scores the winner after Stoke trailed 1-0 at half time.

Season so far

Stoke started the league season with a decent draw away to Millwall, another side that are expected like Stoke to be challenging for the play off spots at least.

Wolves started their season with a great 2-0 away win at Sheffield United, Wolves started the game fast scoring two goals in the first 7 mins.

Question for Thursdays game is what sides do both Stoke & Wolves play, do both play their first teams or play a younger team to alleviate some of the fixture congestion the shortened season has caused.

Do you expect to be in the third round draw?
