Boost for Stoke as James McClean is expected to be back for Blackburn game
The past three games have shown us that McCleans direct running and pace is needed if we are to get anything out of a game.
His suspension for the Cardiff game highlighted the clubs lack of width and pace, something that will need to be addressed in the January window.
McClean got a slight knock v Wigan at the end of the game which resulted in him offering on all the Wigan players from how it looked.
That knock to the knee required stitches but it is not expected to keep him out of the next game.
Not good news coming out of Stoke about Sam Clucas
We at Stoke loud & Proud have been told that Sam Clucas has broke a bone in his foot and could be out of action for up to 2 months.
Sam Clucas got the injury scoring his fantastic second goal versus Barnsley, his follow through on the shot hit the underside of the Barnsley players boot.
Clucas has had it x-rayed on Monday but only sketchy reports of the results have be known.
We have been told those results & they are not want Stoke fans want to hear, as Sam Clucas has been one of our better performers this season.
Hopefully the club will confirm the extent of the injury properly soon.
Selection dilemmas facing Nathan Jones
Stoke go into tomorrow’s game versus Millwall with serious doubts over Peter Etebo. There is concerns still over Bruno Martin Indi who was ill for the Sheffield Wednesday game.
Cameron Carter-Vickers has had to have stitches in a gash to his knee caused during a challenge v Wednesday & Tom Edwards went off late on in the same game, in obvious pain to his side.
If all these players fail to recover in time, which according to Nigerian press is very likely in Etebo’s case. Who plays in their place.
Cameron Carter-Vickers was replaced with Liam Lindsay, he was at fault for the Wednesday goal so will he replace CCV or will Young Centre back Nathan Collins come back into the team.
I witnessed Collins play in the U23 game versus West Ham on Monday night & he produced a performance not warranting a fast way back into the first team, though a few that game looked very much out of sort.
Bruno Martins Indi looks the more likely to return to action having just suffered a sickness bug and probably will take back the left back role from Stephen Ward.
Tom Edwards could be replaced with ease if injured with summer £4mill signing Tommy Smith coming back into the fold.
What would be your starting Eleven if Etebo, CCV, Edwards and BMI don’t make the game
Reports coming out of Nigeria are saying Etebo will miss the next two games through injury
This is not the news we’d hoped for but it could of been worse.
Etebo should be back in contention for a start v Barnsley.
Ryan Shawcross is on course for an early return from his broken leg, and could make an appearance before the end of the year if everything goes to plan
Rory Delap told BBCRadio Stoke “He’s ahead of where he should be. There’s no time scale on him coming back as yet, but he’ll want to be involved as soon as possible.
“He’s been in the group, he’s been in meetings, he’s been in the dressing room, so he is still around and a positive influence on the squad.
And there’s no doubt he’ll come back stronger than ever.”
