Walters Extends Record

Jonathan Walters scored twice in Ireland’s comfortable victory over Oman last night.

The striker’s brace extends his record as Stoke’s top international goalscorer to 12.

On a night when Ireland waved goodbye to Robbie Keane, Walters reminded the nation that they still have a goalscorer in their ranks during the 4-0 victory…although he has a very long way to reach Keane’s tally of 68.

Whilst Walters will fall someway short of that record, there is no denying his importance to Ireland’s recent success.

Born in Merseyside, Walters has picked up all 42 of his international caps whilst a Stoke player, and his scoring ratio is actually more impressive at international level than at club.

Hopefully he can bang a few goals in during the coming weeks and months for Stoke…
