Man Utd 1-1 Stoke City
Stoke picked up a memorable first point at Old Trafford for more than 35 years thanks to Joe Allen’s late goal.
Allen’s second strike in as many games cancelled out Anthony Martial’s curling effort for the home side.
The Potters were grateful for a magnificent performance from Lee Grant- the keeper making a string of saves to deny Manchester United.
But Stoke created their own chances, with Geoff Cameron and Allen particularly wasteful when presented with excellent chances.
Let’s not be too greedy though- this point represents the perfect platform for Stoke to kick-start their campaign and with an attractive run of fixtures ahead, there is no reason why The Potters can’t propel themselves up the table.
Martial’s goal came just minutes after he entered the pitch as a substitute and it sparked Man Utd into life- peppering the Stoke goal with shots.
But Stoke rode out the storm and were rewarded when Allen was on hand to poke the ball over the line after Jon Walters had hit the crossbar.
There was still time for Paul Pogba to head against the bar, but Stoke held firm to take a point back to Staffordshire.
