Bad memories for Tyrese, let’s hope the 1863 charity case doesn’t help Cardiff from setting an in wanted record.
Just how many times have Stoke come up against a side that have just sacked their manager. Will it be another case of new manager bounce to end Cardiffs woes at Stoke’s expense.
Cardiff if they lose, will only be the second side to lose NINE Championship league games in a row. Good job they aren’t up against the biggest Charity case in football.
Stoke will have Joe Allen back fit and could regain his place in midfield, Sam Clucas is still a doubt but Fox, Doughty & Powell will miss out.
How have we faired in previous meetings.
Saturday’s fixture will be the 50th meeting between the two sides
Stoke wins 21
Cardiff wins 17
The last meeting
Stoke lost the last meeting against Cardiff at the bet365 Stadium. The game went from bad to worse, the result wasn’t the biggest upset for the fans, the injury to Tyrese Campbell of which he’s only just getting back into action some 11 months on.
Tyrese went off in the while Stoke were 1-0 ahead, shortly after Stoke had the chance to make it 2-0. Up stepped Campbell’s replacement Sam Vokes who missed a 59th minute penalty. That miss and Threse’s injured rocked Stoke have Cardiff went on to win the game 2-1.
Form (last 4 games)
Sheffield United 2-1 Stoke
Stoke 0-1 Bournemouth
Millwall 2-1 Stoke
Stoke 1-2 Brentford
Cardiff 0-1 Reading
Swansea 3-0 Cardiff
Fulham 2-0 Cardiff
Cardiff 0-2 Middlesbrough
Who’s the threat
Cardiff are a physical side with the likes of Kieffer Moore up front and Aden Flint coming up at set pieces causing side problems in the air. Ex Crewe player Perry NG seems to raise his agent against The Potters, but hopefully he’ll have his hand full with our wing backs.
How could Stoke set up for the game.
Stoke have Allen back and I’d expect him to start. O’Neill is struggling to find a morning midfield and first choice attacking set up, I’d expect a few more chances until hopefully he stubbles on something that works again.
