Even Pudsey Bear couldn’t offer more as Stoke take on bottom of the league
Stoke fans just know what’s likely to happen tomorrow, based solely on past occasions. Peterborough have not won a league game since December and sit right of the bottom of the league. It’s become something of an inside joke to say the Stoke City Charity bus is rolling into town, Saturday’s game would top anything Pudsey bear could achieve. Not only have Peterborough not won in 2022, they have never won a game against the Potters.
Stoke have blown hot & cold all season and seem to only play well against the better sides, or those that at least attack us. This is nothing new though as it’s been like this for 5 years now. Peterborough were unfortunate to leave the bet365 stadium without a point as they at the time looked the best attacking side we had played, they just couldn’t score from the numerous chances they created.
That game saw the last appearance in a Stoke shirt for Sam Surridge as he turned into prime Zidane right at the death which resulted in a red card.
How have we faired in previous meetings.
Tonight’s fixture will be the 14th meeting between the two sides
Stoke wins 8
Peterborough wins nil
The last meeting
Stoke won 2-0 at the bet365 Stadium back in November. Vrancic scored in the 3rd minute and Campbell secured they win with the last kick of the match. The 90 mins in between those two events was just Peterborough carving us open via Dembele, Szmodics, Grant and Norburn.
Form (last 4 games)
Bournemouth 2-1 Stoke
Palace 2-1 Stoke(cup)
Stoke 0-1 Blackpool
Barnsley 0-1 Stoke
Peterborough 0-3 Hull
Peterborough 0-2 Man City(cup)
Huddersfield 3-0 Peterborough
Bournemouth 1-1 Peterborough
Peterborough are 7 points from safety and games are running out for them. Not winning in the last 13 league games has plummeted them to the bottom of the league.
Who’s the threat
Peterborough lost Dembele in the January window but do still have the likes of Jack Marriot and Clarke-Harris
How could Stoke set up for the game.
Stoke have no new injuries from the Barnsley game. Morgan Fox has completed his suspension but alongside Liam Moore are still injured. Tommy Smith is still a doubt having missed the Barnsley game while Nick Powell could only return just before the end of the season.
