International break is over as Stoke aim to build on Millwall win

Stoke return to action after the international break with Sheffield United visiting the bet365 Stadium as Stoke hope to build on the good win over Millwall

The international break has allowed some time for players with knocks to recover. Jaden Philogene-Bidace though is a long shot to play against Sheffield United, Nick Powell and Harry Souttar are definitely out

Liam Moore’s season is over as he’s damaged his ACL meaning at least 10 weeks out. Could we see him back next season, or is that it in a Stoke shirt.

How have we faired in previous meetings.

Todays fixture will be the 108th meeting between the two sides

Stoke wins 34

Draws 30

Sheffield United wins 43

The last meeting

High flying Stoke travelled to Sheffield to face a side struggling at the bottom end of the league. The game was goalless at half time but Jacob Brown have the potters the lead shortly after, Stoke held on to the lead right up to the final 10 minutes but David McGoldrick was subbed on and turned the game around scoring and assisting United’s goals as the won 2-1.

Form (last 4 games)

Stoke

Barnsley 0-1 Stoke

Peterborough 2-2 Stoke

Cardiff 2-1 Stoke

Stoke 2-0 Millwall

Sheffield United

Sheff United 4-1 Middlesbrough

Coventry 4-1 Sheff United

Blackpool 0-0 Sheff United

Sheff United 2-0 Barnsley

Sheffield United started the season slowly, it wasn’t till early January that they started to click under new manager. United’s form since then has seen them climb from 16th to 5th in the league.

Stoke have not beat Sheffield United at the bet365 Stadium since 2005.

Who’s the threat

Sheffield have a brilliant squad on paper with a number of players that could and have caused us problems in the past. McGoldrick did earlier in the season, Oliver McBurnie will try and out muscle our defence with Morgan Gibbs-White playing cutting passes into the Stoke’s back line. Ex loan player Norrington-Davies will be back for the first time since he went back his parent club.

How could Stoke set up for the game.
