Jack in the box, but not for Stoke City as Stoke take on Butland’s Palace side
Stoke take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup knowing deep down that this is their season now. The play offs are only in the most optimistic of Stoke fans thoughts.
The tie pits the possibility of ex Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland against the Potters for the first time since he left. Let’s hope it doesn’t go to a penalty shoot out and Butland makes the telling save.
How have we faired in previous meetings.
Tonights fixture will be the 61st meeting between the two sides
Stoke wins 19
Draws 13
Palace wins 28
The last meeting
Stoke last played Crystal Palace it’s was a Premier League fixture under the management of Paul Lambert. Knowing this you can guess what the result was.
The game was at the end of the 2017/18 season, Stoke hosted Palace but were beaten 2-1. Stoke took the lead through Shaqiri but failed to hang on to the lead (something we still can’t do)
Form (last 4 games)
Stoke
Forest 2-2 Stoke
Stoke 2-2 Birmingham
Stoke 1-2 Luton
Bournemouth 2-1 Stoke
Crystal Palace
Brentford 0-0 Palace
Palace 0-1 Chelsea
Watford 1-4 Palace
Palace 1-1 Burnley
Who’s the threat
Crystal Palace have a number of well known players, Butland is the best known to Stoke fans but the likes of Zaha, Jordan Ayew, Benteke & Eze are hardly nobodies
How could Stoke set up for the game.
Stoke have injury problems and even players who are Cuptied making this a easy or hard pick for O’Neill depending on how you look at it.
Lewis Baker is the most notable player who misses out due to playing in the competition for Chelsea. Sawyers likely to deputise.
Fox misses the game due to the ridiculous red card he received against Bournemouth, made worse due to the injury doubts to Tymon.

What is your score Prediction?
