Stoke fans hope not to see Nathan Jones beating his chest again.
Stoke travel to Luton on Saturday to face a previous manager in Nathan Jones.
I feel sorry for Nathan as he lived and breathed Stoke while he was our manager. You could see the passion he had for the role, unfortunately the job was just to big for him. Is he a bad manager, not in the slightest. Was he experienced enough to deal with the shit storm relegation and Gary Rowett had left him, NO.
Jones is doing a good job at Luton once again. They sit just one point below Stoke having only lost two of the last 10 fixtures.
Stoke got a much needed win in midweek against another good side in Blackpool, the win lifted Stoke back into the play off places though the league is that contested the gap between 5th & 19th is just 6 points.
How have we faired in previous meetings.
Saturday’s fixture will be the 47th meeting between the two sides
Stoke wins 20
Luton wins 11
The last meeting
The last meeting was back in February when the Hatters visited the bet365 Stadium. Stoke strolled the game winning it 3-0 with Nick Powell controlling everything and scoring twice. Fletcher scored the other goal.
Stoke’s last visit to Kenilworth Rd was another win for Stoke. The Potters won the game 2-0 but must thank Adam Davies for an outstanding display to stop Luton running away with the game before we even managed a shot on target.
Form (last 4 games)
Millwall 2-1 Stoke
Stoke 1-2 Brentford
Stoke 3-3 Cardiff
Blackpool 0-1 Stoke
Derby 2-2 Luton
Luton 1-0 Hull
Preston 2-0 Luton
Luton 3-1 Middlesbrough
Who’s the threat
Luton have two strikers that are causing a few defences problems. Harry Cornick & Elijah Adebayo have scored 15 goals between them so far, Souttar and whoever plays alongside him need to be on top form to deal with them
How could Stoke set up for the game.
Barring any late injuries I’d expect the same starting line up that faced Blackpool. Luton and in particular Jones likes to use his wing backs to create the width, Stoke need to make sure Smith & Tymon keep them occupied at the other end of the pitch to stay in control of this game.
