Stoke host high scoring Fulham hoping to contain Mitrović

Stoke have the massive task of stopping Fulham scoring against them, something very few teams have managed this season.

Fulham have scored 19 goals in their last 3 games alone, 70 in the league so far this season.

Stoke have Mario Vrancic back in the squad after injury and new signing Jaden Philogene-Bidace ready to make his debut after signing before the midday Friday deadline.

How have we faired in previous meetings.

Saturday fixture will be the 81st meeting between the two sides

Stoke wins 31

Draws 15

Fulham wins 34

The last meeting

The last meeting was back in August when Fulham brushed Stoke aside 3-0 but could of been much more if not for Josef Bursik pulling off 6 saves to keep the scoreline down.

The last time Fulham won at the bet365 stadium mind you was back in 2010 when Chris Baird had the game of his life scoring both goals in a 2-0 win for the London based side.

There have been 4 meeting at the bet365 stadium since and Stoke have won all 4 only conceding 1 goal in the process.

Form (last 4 games)

Stoke

Stoke 1-2 Derby

Stoke 1-2 Preston

Stoke 2-0 Orient(cup)

Hull 0-2 Stoke

Fulham

Bristol City 0-1 Fulham(cup)

Reading 0-7 Fulham

Fulham 6-2 Bristol City

Fulham 6-2 Birmingham

Fulham I’ve the last 3 games have been sublime and anyone thinking Stoke could take the game to Fulham is deluded. Stoke need to contain the attacking prowess of the like of Mitrović and then install our play onto them if possible. They are and I said back in August that Fulham are the best side in the league.

Who’s the threat

Mitrović, Mitrović and Mitrović. The Serbian striker has been unstoppable in most games scoring 27 goals in the league so far, that’s just 3 less than Stoke as a squad have scored.

How could Stoke set up for the game.

New loan signing Jaden Philogene-Bidace signed prior to the midday Friday deadline meaning he’s eligible for the game. Mario Vrancic is back from injury, Fletcher came through training ready to join the squad. The same can’t be said for Wilmot & Surridge who will miss the game due to injuries.

What is your score Prediction?
