Stoke unbeaten against the Posh, but Ex Stokie hoping to change that fact
Stoke entertain a Peterborough side that we have never lost too in our entire history, which is some achievement when you consider its not just one or two times we have faced the Posh.
I’m sure many of Stoke fan 40 and older will remember the Autoglass Trophy semi final played against Peterborough. Paul Ware’s free kick to win the second leg 1-0 to take us to Wembley.
Peterborough United have just appointed a new assistant manager, that man will be well known to all Stoke fans as it’s ex fans favourite Matty Etherington.
Etherington said that despite his good times at Stoke, he has one thing on his mind on Saturday
“Stoke have a brilliant set of fans who are very, very loyal. But we’re going there, with the work we’re doing this week, with a game plan and trying to get a result”
How have we faired in previous meetings.
Saturday’s fixture will be the 13th meeting between the two sides
Stoke wins 7
Draws 5
Peterborough wins 0

The last meeting
The last time we played Peterborough was in 2002, Stoke ran out 1-0 winners to make it 5 league wins on the bounce against the Posh. It was a game dominated by the Icelandic influence with Annar Gunnlaugsson with a great volley after Bjanri Gudjonsson’s cross that sealed the 3 points.
Form (last 4 games)
Stoke
Stoke 1-2 Brentford
Stoke 3-3 Cardiff
Blackpool 0-1 Stoke
Luton 0-1 Stoke
Peterborough
Peterborough 2-1 QPR
Swansea 3-0 Peterborough
Peterborough 1-1 Huddersfield
Peterborough 0-1 Fulham
Who’s the threat
Despite their league position of 21st Peterborough do have a genuine threat upfront in Johnson Clarke-Harris & Siriki Dembele.
How could Stoke set up for the game.
Stoke will be rocked with the news Harry Souttar will miss the rest of the season with a cruciate injury sustained while playing for Australia. Danny Batth now has to be the central defender that does all the defending of the balls into the box. Nick Powell is still injured and O’Neill has said Thompson is unavailable.
