We always beat West Brom, well we used to

Today we take on what once used to be our favourite fixture, mainly as we never lost. Stoke went thorough a run of 30 fixtures during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s when Stoke only lost 2 of the game against our midlands rivals

However that great run came to an end resulting in Stoke only winning 7 of the last 20 games against West Bromwich Albion.

West Bromwich Albion despite their slump in the league like Stoke have still won 50% of their last 6 games unlike Stoke who’ve only won 2 of the last 12 games

How have we faired in previous meetings.

Tonight’s fixture will be the 150th meeting between the two sides

Stoke wins 63

Draws 37

West Brom wins 49

The last meeting

Stoke have won the last two fixtures 1-0, the last game at the Hawthorns saw Stoke run out 1-0 winners. Tyrese Campbell scored within 10 mins amand Stoke held out for the victory.

Form (last 4 games)

Stoke

Cardiff 2-1 Stoke

Stoke 2-0 Millwall

Stoke 1-0 Sheffield United

Reading 2-1 Stoke

West Brom

West Brom 1-0 Fulham

Bristol city 2-2 West Brom

Birmingham 1-0 West Brom

West Brom 2-0 Bournemouth

WBA have won 3 of the last 10 games and could be disadvantaged against a side that are not bothered about getting a truck ready to go

Who’s the threat

Ex Huddersfield striker Karlan Grant is West Brim’s biggest threat and with Adam Reach who always seems to have a good game against Stoke. Most of West Brom play goes through Grant or Callum Robinson so if Stoke can stop it making it to them then we have a chance of a result

How could Stoke set up for the game.

Stoke have been rocked by Jordan Thompson’s injury ruling him out for the rest of the season. Romain Sawyers would of been an ideal straight swap but he’s unable to play against his parent club. Mario Vrancic should start now.
