Wollscheid The Forgotten Man

Philipp Wollscheid’s return to Germany isn’t going to plan.

The centre-back, currently on loan at Wolfsburg, has been omitted from the last four matchday squads.

Wollscheid started Stoke’s opening two matches of the season but was shipped out on deadline day, with Bruno Martins Indi taking his place.

It certainly looks like Stoke have got the better deal, with Wollscheid being the scapegoat for Wolfsburg’s 5-1 loss at home to Borussia Dortmund last month.

And the former Bayer Leverkusen man didn’t even make the squad for Wolfsburg’s DFB Pokal cup tie at lower league Heidenheim this week.

Wollscheid has only played three times for his temporary club, losing twice. He’ll be hoping the replacement for recently sacked manager Dieter Hecking gives him more playing time.

The truth might be coming out…he’s not better than Zidane…
