The Opposition: Burnley

Burnley Stoke

Sean Dyche has guided Burnley back up at the first time of asking.

A lack of financial backing has hampered their previous stays in the Premier League, but with past experience comes hope that they can stay for more than just one season.

The signing of Andre Gray for a club record £9 million proved vital in their promotion as they won a three way tussle to lift the title. Gray scored 23 goals to help get them there.

But it wasn’t all about Gray- a solid backline conceded just 35 league goals over the season.

With the right support from the boardroom Burnley could surprise a few teams this coming campaign.

Memorable match: Stoke 2-0 Burnley. 15 August 2009. Stoke have only beaten Burnley once in the Premier League, and it happened to be their first meeting. The Potters swept aside a newly promoted visiting side, thanks to goals from Ryan Shawcross and Stephen Jordan- who scored in his own net.

2016-17 Fixtures: 3 December (H), 4 April (A).
