Stoke’s Ladies Hammer Forest

Stoke City Ladies put in a five star display against Nottingham Forest last night.

They were dominant from start to finish, ultimately winning 5-1 in Basford.

Ash Hayes set the Ladies on their way when her speculative effort caught out the goalkeeper in the sixth minute.

Despite Stoke piling on the pressure they had to wait until just before half-time to double the lead. A wonderful move saw Jamilla Palmer set free on the right wing and her cross was knocked home by Kate Asher.

A quickfire double on the hour mark sealed victory. Palmer got on the end of Hollie Gibson’s superb cross, before Hayes was grateful for some poor goalkeeping to grab her second of the game.

The most explosive strike of the evening was left for substitute Kelsey Richardson. The 17-year-old let fly with an unstoppable shot 10 minutes from time.

Andi Bell’s goal in stoppage time was scant consolation for Forest, as Stoke walked away having claimed just their second win of the season.
