Stoke’s Ladies Slip to Defeat

Stoke City Ladies lost 2-1 at home to Leicester yesterday.

A tight encounter was settled by Em Owen’s unfortunate late own goal.

The defender- who started the match in midfield- sliced a clearance into the back of her own net.

Stoke shaded the match but had to come from behind having conceded to Helen Busby’s goal on the 20 minute mark.

Kelsey Richardson equalised before half-time though. The young forward controlling and finishing well following impressive hold up play by Kate Asher.

Despite Stoke having a number of opportunities to take the lead it was Owen’s goal that settled the match.

The team have two matches to put things right this week, with trips to Nottingham Forest and Fylde scheduled.
