The Opposition: Leicester City

Leicester Stoke

Last season turned out alright for Leicester…

Nobody could have anticipated the success Claudio Ranieri achieved, least of all The Foxes themselves.

Whatever this season brings, nothing will take away the glory of that title win.

That title brings Champions League football to the King Power Stadium this time around and it will be interesting to see how they cope with the extra demands of European football.

Rumours are already linking star men away from the club, and whilst the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante are important, the crucial element to Leicester’s success was the team spirit.

So long as they keep that for this coming season then they are bound to do well once again…although another title win may be a step too far.

Memorable match: Leicester 0-1 Stoke. 17 January 2015. A fairly dull game was brought to life thanks to Bojan’s wonderful strike and celebratory smile. It turned out to be the Spaniard’s final goal before his knee ligament injury, and what a fitting way it was bow out for his league campaign. On Stoke’s bench that day was Robert Huth, who soon after joined Leicester- to stunning success.

2016-17 Fixtures: 17 December (H), 1 April (A).
