Press conference with Michael O’Neill for the Reading game

How did you find the Fans Forum?

It was good on Monday night. It’s the first time I’ve done a Fans Forum in a club sense for a while. There were a lot of interesting and challenging questions. It was an enjoyable evening.

Onto the game, it’s an important week

All three game weeks are important. We go into it in good form. It’s about maintaining that momentum. It’s a chance to add to the points tally.

Injury news

Joe Allen’s operation went well & he is already back in the gym working on his upper body. He’s in good spirits. James McClean will still be unavailable for this Saturday & we have a concern over Sam Vokes.

Does having Joe Allen missing cause the team a problem.

I believe we have players in the squad that can cover for Joe Allen, though we may have to change tact slightly

What’s was your thoughts on the U18 game versus Man City

It was good to see the U18s game on Tuesday. They played against a very good Man City side. I felt they were a little unfortunate to be behind in the first half. I felt the scoreline was a bit harsh in the end. There were positives to take from the game.

What to expect versus Reading

Match Preview: Stoke versus Reading
Well Saturday 20th of June sees Stoke restart their campaign after the Covid-19 interruption, it sees Stoke pit Itself against the bloke who was instrumental in bringing Kevin Wimmer to Stoke. Pity Mark Bowen doesn’t want to take him to Reading to sort out their defence.

Reading were having a good season right up until Mark Bowen signed a new deal at the club, over night that great season halted as they have only won 4 of the 14 games since. It amazing how many times this happens.

Stoke have faced Reading 51 times before with the results been spread evenly between the two side

Stoke wins 18
Draws 16
Reading wins 17

Over the last ten games versus Reading though, Stoke have only won 2 games. Stoke are unbeaten in the last 6 games drawing the last 3

Form Prior to break

Stoke 5-1 Hull
Luton 1-1 Stoke
Blackburn 0-0 Stoke

Birmingham 1-3 Reading
Reading 2-0 Barnsley
Reading 0-3 Wigan

Player to watch out for

John Swift is having a great season & is one of the top rated midfielders in the league averaging a 7.2 rating via who scored for the season, Swift has 10 assists to his name with a great solid footballing name George Puskas scoring 9 goals this season. Don’t forget Charlie Adam is on Readings books and would love another chance to show he’s still got it

What do you expect from the game on Saturday 20th, last times result, a 5-1 win over Hull was vital but didn’t give us room to breath with the form of Wigan keeping us in the battle. Luckily Charlton & Hull have dropped like a Stone and seemed destined to join Barnsley in league one next season unless they can halt their slumps quickly

Stoke Thrashed & Crash Out Of Cup

Stoke City’s U23s are out of the Premier League Cup after being thumped at home this afternoon.

Reading came to Clayton Wood as the group leaders with Stoke knowing they had to win the game to progress, but it was to be a day to forget as The Potters fell to a 4-1 defeat.

Potters Aim For Cup Progress

Stoke City host Reading in their final group game of the Premier League Cup this afternoon.

The Potters go into the match in third position in Group H knowing that only a win will do as they aim to progress to the knockout stages.
