Bony Aiming To Break Duck
Wilfried Bony is still searching for his first goal in a Stoke shirt.
The striker, on loan from Manchester City, is due to play his seventh match for the club tomorrow.
Forward players are often judged on their goalscoring return, but Bony’s hold up play shouldn’t be overlooked. Whilst he’s come deeper at times, the space he has created in front of him has allowed the likes of Joe Allen to nip in and profit.
Xherdan Shaqiri has publicly backed Bony to find the back of the net sooner rather than later, and breaking his personal duck will be on the Ivorian’s mind tomorrow at Hull afternoon.
It will be the fifth time Bony has come up against Hull in his career, scoring just the once to date. But his eyes will have lit up watching last week’s highlights, when Bournemouth made the most of some woeful defending to put six past them.
Bony is averaging two shots per match in a Stoke shirt, and with every game his additional fitness is telling. He played an excellent role against Sunderland and with a bit more patience in the forward position, a goal is surely just around the corner.
Confidence may be low for Bony- he’s now gone 19 club matches without a goal- but the backing of his team-mates and supporters is sure to help in his quest for glory.
Come on Wilfried- we believe in you!
